New century chic - 2007 Infiniti M35 sedan
Billed as the most technologically advanced vehicle ever built by the automaker, the Infiniti M35 sedan, introduced last year, sets the standard for progressive technology for both Infiniti and the luxury car industry. Based on an enhanced, next generation version of Nissan’s FM (Front Midship) platform, approximately 60 percent of the platform design and components were enhanced for use with the rear-drive M sedan.
Available in base and Sport models, the M sedan includes an increased level of standard features for 2007. Last year’s optional Journey package is standard and features the following: a Bose two-channel premium audio system with eight-speakers; HomeLink Universal Transceiver; advanced RearView monitor; Adaptive Front lighting System with Xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps and automatic leveling and a compass.
An Advanced Technology Package is a new option package this year and includes a Bose Studio Surround sound system with digital 5.1- channel decoding and 14 speakers, choice of XM or Sirius satellite radio, DVD-Video/Audio drive mounted in the center console and Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system.
The Infiniti M captures the essential elements of both the larger Q45 luxury performance sedan and the smaller G35 -- and takes them to a new level of engaging luxury and performance. The M35 sedan features the advanced 3.5L V6 prime mover with torque communicated to the street through a five-speed automatic transmission with a short-throw performance shifter, manual shift mode and downshift rev matching. Infiniti also offers a four-wheel drive variant known as the M35x.
On the road, the M35 is fast, quiet, smooth and precise â€"- a ballerina trained in the studied knowledge of Japanese sensitivities. The drivetrain is awesome, inspiring driver confidence. The Infiniti sedan is best when pushed -â€" firm but not light, balanced but not heavy handed at low speeds.
The M sedan starts with a corrosion resistant, high strength steel unibody as the foundation for the advanced suspension hardware. The Infiniti sedan features a four-wheel independent suspension system, with a double wishbone system, coil springs and stabilizer bar in front, multi-link with stabilizer bar and coil springs at the rear.
The M Sport is equipped with Infiniti's Rear Active Steer system. Unlike passive rear steering systems, this design features precise, electronic motor-driven control. This system helps improve the M Sport's handling performance by adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension according to steering input and vehicle speed. The system's electronic control unit calculates the desired vehicle dynamics from a series of sensors and directs the system actuator to change rear geometry by moving both rear suspension lower links. The result is sports carlike agility, combined with luxury sedan stability and ride quality.
Inside the cabin, the M sedan's long wheelbase and short overhangs provide a roomy interior and sport exterior dimensions. The new sedan's interior design engages the senses in new and invigorating ways, combining a driver-oriented cockpit with a graceful level of luxury and design detail. Focusing on purposeful simplicity, the modern and intuitive interior features genuine Rosewood or aluminum trim, leather-appointed seats, Solar Eclipse instrument lighting and available climate controlled front seats, heated power reclining rear seats and an advanced Bose Studio Surround sound system.
Other available features include a new user interface featuring voice-activated destination entry as well as HVAC and audio control.
