Some know it as the "Steel City." Others know it as the "City of Bridges." Regardless of whether you know it for its 300+ steel-related businesses or its 446 bridges, Pittsburgh has a long and storied legacy. It is the second largest city in Pennsylvania, with a population of just over 300,000. Part of its appeal comes from its wide range of economic ventures. Pittsburgh experiences a relatively mild climate. Temperatures rarely rise above the average high of 82 degrees in the summer, and rarely below 20 degrees in the winter. The city experiences more than three feet of precipitation on average each year and also witnesses more than 40 annual inches of snowfall.
Pittsburgh also has a rich sports history. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a storied NFL franchise and have won the most Super Bowls out of any team in the league. Pittsburgh's oldest professional sports team, The Pittsburgh Pirates, have won 5 World Series championships, most recently in 1979, since their founding in 1881. In the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins have won three Stanley Cup championships, most recently in 2009. Though the city does not field a professional NBA team, the University of Pittsburgh basketball team competes in the ACC and the recently formed Steel City Yellow Jackets participate in the ABA.
