New possibilities in a compact package - 2009 HUMMER H3T SUT
With its unmistakable style and unmatched capabilities, HUMMER brings the all-new H3T to the truck market. Based on the architecture of the popular H3, the new H3T features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot long cargo bed.
The new HUMMER truck is infused with the attributes expected on a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.
Offered in H3T and H3T Alpha trim levels, base power is provided by a Vortec 3.7L in-line five cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. The brawny H3T Alpha is equipped with an aluminum 5.3L V8 engine. The base motor is bolted to the standard MA5 five-speed manual gearbox. A Hydra-Matic 4L60 four-speed automatic is an available option for the base engine, standard on the V8. The H3T is equipped with a two-speed, electronically controlled, full-time 4WD system. Fully locking electronic front and rear differentials are available in the optional Off-Road Adventure package.
The H3T is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. Additionally, the H3 is the only truck in the midsize segment that can climb a 16-inch vertical wall, scale a 60 percent grade, transverse a 40 percent side slope and operate in 24 inches of water and do it fully loaded at its maximum cargo capacity. The H3T shares much of its underpinnings with GM's Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks.
On the road, the H3T Alpha pickup shares the can-do attitude of its larger HUMMER brethren. The truck is sure and solid -- reassuring to the driver in almost every situation on and off-road. Power is willing and responsive; handling and control are crisp and predictable.
The H3T's formidable foundation starts with a stretched version of the H3's chassis and suspension. The chassis includes high-strength steel side rails and cross members for durability and enhanced off-road capability. Suspension hardware includes a Short-Long Arm (SLA) independent front suspension and a Hotchkiss design, dual-stage, leaf spring rear suspension.
The front suspension uses an aluminum-forged upper control arm and a cast nodular iron lower control arm, providing robustness and strength when off-roading. Microcellular urethane jounce bumpers are used in the front and rear to prevent the suspension from hitting the frame in rough terrain.
Inside, the airy cabin is ruggedly tasteful -- there is a clean, honest presentation of displays, controls and switchgear. The cloth seats are both comfortable and supportive. Two power points are located at the bottom of the center stack. The rear seat is comfortable and versatile. The seat cushion has a hard plastic cupholder that flips open as needed.
In addition, the 60/40 split fold-down seats add cargo hauling capabilities to the H3T. Access to the rear cargo area is by a tail gate at the rear of the vehicle.
