Orlando is one of the most visited cities in America and has an extremely large tourism industry. This "Theme Park Capital of the World" has numerous attractions, including Walt Disney World Resort, built in 1971, the Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando. Orlando has seven of the ten most visited theme parks in North America, and five of the most visited in the world. Orlando is also a large destination for conferences and conventions.
The University of Central Florida, the second largest university in the United States by student enrollment, is located in Orlando. The city also has several other private universities and colleges in the area. The city has two professional major league sports teams, the NBA team Orlando Magic and the MLS team the Orlando City SC. Orlando has numerous golf courses, with the most famous being the Bay Hill Club and Lodge, where the Arnold Palmer Invitational is held annually.
The city is served by the busy Orlando International Airport and the smaller Orlando Sanford International Airport. A light commuter rail, SunRail, just opened in 2014 to serve the people of Orlando and surrounding areas. Construction for the Florida High Speed Rail is scheduled to begin in 2015.
Besides the tourism industry, Orlando also has large industrial and technological industries. Orlando is home to the seventh largest research facility in the country, the Central Florida Research Park. This research park is the nation's hub for military simulation and training programs. The city has a large entertainment sector as well, and is sometimes referred to as "East Hollywood" for the number of movie studios in the area.
