Better than Ever: 2018 Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck
The 2018 Toyota Tundra half-ton full-size pickup truck features dramatically bold elements of design, refinement, quality and craftsmanship. Each Tundra grade now embodies a specific theme through distinct designs that go beyond just badging. The all-new front design integrates the hood and grille for a chiseled and modern industrial image.
Offered in Double and CrewMax cab configurations, the Tundra is available in and SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum and the 1794 Edition trim levels. The 1794 Edition is a tribute to the ranch, founded in 1794, on which the Tundra plant is located in San Antonio, Texas.
The brawny chiseled look of the Tundra is the ideal platform for the optional TRD Pro Off-Road Package. Model specific features include: split five-spoke TRD Off-Road Package alloy wheels with black accents and all-terrain P275/65R18 tires, trail-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, engine skid plate, fuel tank skid plate, front tow hooks, LED fog lights (SR5), TRD Off Road floor mats (SR5/Limited), and bed side TRD Off-Road decal.
For those who want to add some Sport, there is the TRD Sport Package. This package upgrades the standard wheels to 20” six-spoke TRD Sport Package alloy wheels with black accents and Luxury Sport P275/55R20 tires. Sport-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers, TRD front & rear anti-sway bars, color keyed grill surround, mirror caps, front and rear bumpers, LED headlights and LED fog lights, TRD Sport floor mats, TRD shift knob, and bedside TRD Sport decal are also included.
Base power is generated by the 4.6L i-Force V8 engine. The available 5.7L i-Force V8 is optional. Both V8s are joined to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. 4WD is optional.
Tundra's advanced TripleTech frame uses wide, full-boxed rails for the front
portion, a reinforced C-channel under the cab and an open C-channel underneath the
bed to help maximize strength, ride quality and durability. The double A-arm front
suspension uses coil-over spring shock units, while a front-mounted steering rack helps
enhance steering feel and response. The rear suspension uses staggered shocks
mounted outboard of the springs to improve the shocks' dampening efficiency. Spring
rates are tuned to provide a flat vehicle stance when fully loaded.
Inside the passenger cabin, a bold interior was developed focusing on styling differentiation between grades and improving the availability of features most important to truck buyers. Ergonomic improvements include easier driver access to controls. Large knobs have been retained so they can be operated with or without work gloves.
CrewMax rear seats can be folded up for additional cargo carrying capability while maintaining a comfortable seating back angle and lowering load the height by more than 11 inches. Both Double Cab and CrewMax are available with a bench or bucket seats for the front row.
