Professional Review for the Chevrolet Blazer
Old Name, New SUV: 2019 Chevrolet Blazer
It’s back! At least in name anyway. Chevrolet has brought back the Blazer nameplate for an all-new SUV. Slated between Equinox and Traverse in the automaker’s growing line-up of crossovers and SUVs, the new 2019 Blazer promises to strengthen the portfolio of desirable Chevrolet vehicles. The all-new contemporary midsize SUV is rooted in attention-grabbing design with seamlessly integrated customer-focused technologies and superb functionality.
The 2019 Blazer is the boldest, most progressive expression of the Chevrolet crossover design theme. A wide stance, tight proportions, a high beltline and dramatic sculpting give it a toned, athletic appearance from all angles. The 2019 Blazer will offer unique design elements on each model, appealing to customers seeking distinctive styling and outstanding utility.
To be available in RS and Premier trim levels, highlights include a driver-centric interior; five-passenger seating with up to 64.2 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with second-row seats folded flat; adjustable sliding rear seat; available Chevy-first cargo management system with a rail system and cargo fence; available panoramic dual-pane power sunroof; and maximum towing capacity of 4500 pounds. An optional Hitch View feature helps the driver align the hitch with the trailer.
Base power will be generated by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine. A 3.6L V6 is optional. Torque for both engines will be communicated to the wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. An advanced twin-clutch All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system available. Traction Select is standard on all models and allows the driver to make real-time adjustments to the vehicle’s driving mode to account for varying road conditions. On AWD models, it also allows the system to be completely disconnected from the rear axle, meaning drivers can opt to have their vehicle operate in FWD when AWD capability is not necessary.
Inside the passenger cabin, the interior echoes the bold exterior theme with sporty good looks. The design emphasizes space, craftsmanship and customer personalization, with a wide range of interior styling choices for the different models, achieved through several color and trim choices. Sporty details include a padded knee area, round air vents and grab handles on the doors. When it comes to connectivity, an eight-inch-diagonal color touchscreen running Chevrolet Infotainment 3 is standard, along with 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto compatibility.
The new Blazer also offers a Chevrolet-first Cargo Management System, standard on RS and Premier models. It features a rail system and cargo fence to help secure smaller items by dividing the cargo area.
Let’s face it, Detroit isn’t a place that most people want to be right now. But where is one to go when one wants a change of scenery that isn’t the Motor City? Well, one needs to only get behind the wheel of one’s Chevrolet Blazer LT and drive just a little ways East of Detroit for the perfect getaway in Ann Arbor. What’s in Ann Arbor, you ask? A perfect question, and one easily answered. If you’re a football fan then there’s only one place to go: Michigan Stadium as you cheer on the University of Michigan Wolverines. Or if you want one of the finest movie-watching experiences in town, grab some fresh popcorn and nab two tickets for a screening at Michigan Theater, one of the most gorgeous theaters in the state. For those looking to enjoy some fresh air, be sure to pay a visit to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Arboretum, a meticulously crafted and landscaped environment that is refreshing and gorgeous. And if you’re hungry, Ann Arbor has a wealth of local eateries that should hit the spot just right. For the best Asian food in the city, be sure to drop by Pacific Rim. Need something decidedly more European? Then try the delicious German cuisine at Metzgers. Give Ann Arbor a try, it just might surprise you.
